week 45 - Craft Fair Setup Day

Ten lovely ladies worked extremely hard this weekend to price, categorize, package and label over 400 items for sale in the upcoming craft fair in Victoria Hall on 20 November. Our stock includes Ceramics, Textiles (mainly knitting & Crochet) & Jewellery made using our Egyptian Paste & Felted beads.

What an amazing day - it was so satisfying to see everything we have all worked so hard on laid out and ready to go. I think everyone felt proud. I certainly did.

Now we just have to sell it all!!

Please PLEASE come and support us on Nov 20th at Victoria Hall in Saltaire if you are able. I promise that you won't be disappointed. The prices range from £12 to £1.50 so there really is something for everyone, and LOADS of great gift ideas for the whole family!

Ceramics laid out -

All our knitted/fabric wares including toys and about 30 pairs of fingerless mittens.

Jewellery stand - the large grecian bust is for display, the other 4 heads are for sale.

Dinah hard at work putting prices on the back of the pottery.

Gill crafting name tags and stories for her sock monsters.

Mock-up of how the stand might look on the day.

week 43 - Cliffe Castle Outing

A group of us from KS&W made an outing to Cliffe Castle in Keighley to see an artist talk by Naseem Darbey and a sculpture exhibition by Nicola Hicks.

It was a really good day out to a local stately home that I have never been to before -- the artist talk was fabulous and the sculpture exhibition was very good. It also gave us a chance to see the permanent exhibition in Cliffe Castle! I think I will be going back.

Beautiful buildings and grounds...

Some other work of Naseems on show in Cliffe Castle:

Nicola Hicks sculpture. What I would call barnyard sculpture - what would you make if you had lots of straw and mud to hand??? Some nice references to fairy tales and storytelling...

Week 33 - Kids activites at Saltaire Festival

The preparation has taken a lot of time and hard work but it was worth it on the day! The fundraising team ran 2 free kids activities: Fabric Cupcakes and the Large Knitting Nancy.

It made a lovely addition to the children's area of Saltaire Festival and was extremely successful considering that we had a rainy morning and didn't have many visitors on the stall until about 1pm when the sun came out!

We also had Cupcake Craft Packs for sale and we sold 40 of these so we did a bit of fundraising for Kirkgate Studios & Workshops on the day as well!!

All in all it was a great day and volunteers and participants really enjoyed themselves!
The following day our Woodworks tutor John was on the stall with his 'bug houses' which were also very popular!! John will be out again next Saturday & Sunday so come and see our stall!!
